Khorne Lord Of Skulls (Super Heavy Vehicle Review)

So by now we know the name of the monstrous vehicle which was leaked onto the internet a few days ago. Serving as a major part of the new Apocalypse line up and major Chaos Space Marine unit, the Lord of Skulls is a huge flippin' great tank armed to the teeth. Carrying everything from a chainaxe the size of a Rhino's main hatch to gattling guns, burning skull launches known (appropriately) as the skullhurler, and various chest mounted cannons it's a force to behold.

As a daemon engine we can expect all the usual traits to be present on it from its potential rebelling against owners to unnatural resistance. What bonus rules will be involved given that it is a super heavy class and not a walker remains to be seen. From the various large tanks on its back storing blood, it might also have some limitations. Gaining or losing power depending upon how much blood it consumes each turn, or perhaps even points allocations a-la Warhammer Fantasy's Steam Tank.

Given the Lord of Skulls' design and the obvious similarities in terms of tracks, a few are predicting this to be a more close-combat oriented Baneblade. Whether or not they are right remains to be seen but, piecing together the information we have, this is an early review. It's entirely commentary upon the vehicle's design and how it reflects on the direction Warhammer 40,000 is going in, but it's all we can do until we see the rulebook.

  1. The Lord of Skulls is a SUper Heavy Walker, but because he doesn't have any legs and his mounted on tracks, he cannot use the Stomp special attack.

But he can Ram or tankshock and use a Thunderblitz special attack like a super heavy tank.
